Product Method of Scandium Oxide Sc2O3 Powder:

Aluminum-scandium electrolysis: metal ores or scandium compounds containing scandium are electrolyzed with aluminum ores and scandium aluminum alloys are obtained on the cathode and then dissolved in water to obtain a scandium-containing solution. Then, by adding an appropriate amount of sodium hydroxide, scandium precipitates out in the form of Sc(OH)3 and then gets Sc2O3 through dehydration.

Alkali metal scandium salt method: the scandium-containing ore and sodium hydroxide solution are boiled together to obtain the scandium-containing alkali metal salt solution. Then, by adding an appropriate amount of sulfuric acid, scandium precipitates out in the form of Sc2(SO4)3 and then gets Sc2O3 after dehydration and burning.

Alkaline earth metal scandium salt method: the scandium-containing ore and calcium hydroxide are boiled together to obtain the scandium-containing alkaline earth metal salt solution. Then, by adding an appropriate amount of sulfuric acid, scandium precipitates out in the form of Sc2(SO4)3 and then gets Sc2O3 after dehydration and burning.

Carbon reduction method: scandium ore is reduced with carbon at high temperatures to obtain Sc2O3 and CO2. Sc2O3 can be further processed into other products.

Scandium metal direct oxidation method: scandium metal reacts with oxygen at high temperature to directly oxidize Sc2O3. This method requires the use of a large amount of oxygen, and the cost is high.
