EHS-40 Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate CAS 126-92-1, 40%

Sodium 2-ethylhexylsulfate dissolves easily in water. It has a good dispersibility and is compatible with hard water.Solid Content: 40%

About Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate:

Physical state: Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate is a white or light yellow solid, easily soluble in water, forming a transparent aqueous solution.

Stability: Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate has good chemical stability under normal conditions and cannot react easily with other substances. However, hydrolysis or degradation reactions may occur under extreme conditions, such as high temperatures and strong acids or bases.

Irritant: Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate irritates the skin and eyes, and long-term contact or large amounts of contact may cause skin allergy and eye discomfort. Therefore, personal protection should be considered during use to avoid direct contact and inhalation.

Biodegradability: Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate has certain biodegradability. In the natural environment, microorganisms can gradually degrade it into harmless substances such as carbon dioxide and water.

Solubility: Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate is soluble in water but also soluble in other polar organic solvents. In an aqueous solution, its solubility increases with the increase in temperature.

Decontamination: 2-ethylhexyl sulfate sodium has a good decontamination ability and can effectively remove stains and oil stains. This is due to the ability of its surface activity to reduce interfacial tension, making it easier for stains to be removed from the fibre or object surface.

Applications of Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate:

Petroleum industry: In the petroleum industry, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate is mainly used as an oil extraction and purification aid. It can improve the efficiency of oil production and the flow of crude oil, thus facilitating recovery and transportation. At the same time, in the process of petroleum processing, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate can be used as an assistant to help remove impurities and harmful substances in oil products and improve the quality and stability of oil products.

Textile and printing: In the textile and printing industry, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate is mainly used as a dispersant, wetting agent and penetrant for dyes and pigments. It helps distribute and fix dyes and pigments evenly on the fibres, improving the fabric's colour, freshness and durability. At the same time, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate can also be used as a softener for textile processing to improve the feel and appearance of the fabric.

Pesticide preparation: In preparing pesticides, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate is often used as a wetting agent, dispersant and emulsifier. It can help the pesticide adhere to the plant's surface, improve its utilization rate, and control its effect. In addition, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate can also be used to process agricultural plastic films to improve the stability and durability of the films.

Food industry: In the food industry, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate is mainly used as a preservative, emulsifier and stabilizer. In addition, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate can also be used to produce food packaging materials to improve the moisture resistance and barrier properties of packaging materials.

Leather processing: In leather processing, sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate can be used as a degreaser, emulsifier and softener. It can improve leather's processing properties and the gloss and feel of leather.

Production Method of Sodium 2-ethylhexyl sulfate:

Esterification: The sulfonation method is to esterify alcohol and sulfuric acid to produce sulfate and then neutralize with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium sulfate salt. The specific steps are as follows:

Esterification: Add 2-ethylhexyl alcohol and sulfuric acid to the reactor, heat to a certain temperature, and stir evenly. Under the action of sulfuric acid, the hydroxyl group of 2-ethylhexyl alcohol is esterified with the hydrogen ion of sulfuric acid to form 2-ethylhexyl sulfate.

Neutralization reaction: 2-ethylhexyl sulfate is mixed with sodium hydroxide solution and stirred evenly. Under sodium hydroxide, sulfate ions of 2-ethylhexyl sulfate neutralize with hydrogen ions to form sodium salt of 2-ethylhexyl sulfate.

Separation and refining: the reaction liquid is separated to obtain the crude product 2-ethylhexyl sulfate sodium salt. Then, the crude product is refined, such as water washing, dehydration and drying, and the purity of 2-ethylhexyl sulfate sodium salt is obtained.

It should be noted that safety issues need to be paid attention to during the production process. At the same time, it is also necessary to control the quality of raw materials, reaction temperature and time and other process parameters to ensure the quality and output of the product.
