DLS Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate CAS 19040-44-9

It is a delicate white paste when at room temperature. When heated to more than 70 degrees, the liquid becomes transparent. The foam produced is rich, fine, non-slippery, easy-to-rinse, and leaves a comforting after-wash feeling.Solid content 48%

Description of Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate:

Molecular structure: Disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate is an esterification produced by the reaction of dodecyl sulfonic acid with maleic anhydride and then a salt compound produced by the reaction with sodium hydroxide. Its molecular formula is C14H26O7SNa2, and its relative molecular mass is 406.4.

Physical properties: Disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate is a white or light yellow powder with a slightly pungent odour. It is soluble in water and soluble in water is slightly alkaline. Its aqueous solution will precipitate under acidic conditions but is stable under alkaline conditions.

Chemical properties: Disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate is an acidic substance with strong decontamination ability. In hard water, it can combine with calcium and magnesium plasma to form precipitates, thus playing a role in softening water quality. In addition, it also has good hard water resistance and oxidation resistance.

Applications of Disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate:

Daily chemical industry

In the daily chemical industry, disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate is mainly used to formulate personal care products, such as detergents, body washes, shampoos, etc. Because of its excellent surface activity and decontamination ability, it can effectively remove dirt from the skin and hair while having a moisturizing and softening effect, so it is widely welcomed. In addition, disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate can also be used as a formula ingredient in cleaning products such as hand sanitizer and laundry detergent to improve the decontamination ability and use the effect of products.

Petroleum industry

In the petroleum industry, disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate is mainly used as an additive for drilling fluids, which can improve the lubricity and stability of drilling fluids, reduce bit wear and frictional resistance, and thus improve drilling efficiency. In addition, it can also be used to separate oil and water after oil exploitation and treat oil production wastewater, which helps improve oil production efficiency and reduce environmental pollution.

Textile printing and dyeing field

Disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate can be used in textile printing and dyeing as a dye dispersant, softener, antistatic agent, etc. It can improve the dispersion and uniformity of the dye so that the dye can more easily penetrate the fibre, thereby improving the dyeing effect and reducing the dyeing cost. At the same time, it can make the fabric soft and smooth, provide excellent antistatic performance, improve the feel of the fabric and provide comfort.

Medical field

For example, in the preparation of injection, oral liquid and other drug dosage forms, adding an appropriate amount of disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate can improve the solubility and stability of the drug. In addition, it can also be used to prepare pharmaceutical excipients such as emulsifiers and antimicrobial agents.

Production Method of Disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate:

Chemical synthesis

Esterification reaction: Maleic anhydride is esterified with dodecyl sulfonic acid to produce dodecyl sulfosuccinic acid. This step is usually performed with heat and a catalyst to facilitate the reaction.

Treatment of esterification products: After the esterification reaction is completed, the generated dodecyl sulfosuccinic acid needs to be treated to remove excess unreacted dodecyl sulfonic acid. Common treatment methods include washing, neutralization, dehydration and refining.

Alkalization of esterification products: The treated products must be alkalized with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate. This step is usually performed under warm and pressurized conditions to ensure a complete reaction.

Separation and purification: After the alkalization reaction, the generated disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate salt needs to be separated and purified to remove impurities and unreacted raw materials. Common separation and purification methods include filtration, crystallization, recrystallization and drying.

We can get a high purity of dodecyl sulfosuccinate disodium product through the above steps.

Biological enzyme catalytic method

In addition to chemical synthesis, enzyme catalysis is also a way to prepare disodium dodecyl sulfosuccinate. The method uses specific enzymes to catalyze the reaction to convert the raw material into the target product. Compared with the chemical synthesis method, the enzyme-catalyzed method has the advantages of mild conditions, high selectivity and environmental friendliness.

Enzyme selection and preparation: In the biological enzyme catalysis method, selecting the right enzyme is the key. According to the structure of the target product dodecyl sulfosuccinic acid, it is necessary to select enzymes with corresponding catalytic activity. Usually, the desired enzyme can be extracted or genetically engineered from microorganisms.

Enzyme-catalyzed reaction: The prepared enzyme is mixed with the raw material, and the enzyme-catalyzed reaction is carried out under appropriate temperature, pH and reaction time conditions. Enzyme-catalyzed reactions are highly selective and can efficiently convert raw materials into target products.

Product separation and purification: After the enzyme-catalyzed reaction, the product must be separated from the reaction liquid and purified. Common separation and purification methods include centrifugation, filtration, extraction, crystallization, etc.

Product transformation: In some cases, further product transformation is required by enzymatic catalysis. For example, dodecyl sulfosuccinate acid is converted to dodecyl sulfosuccinate disodium salt. This usually involves additional chemical reaction steps, such as the reaction with sodium hydroxide.
