Air Entraining Agent in Concrete

The ability to inject large numbers of small air bubbles throughout concrete mixers, to decrease bleeding, segregation, workability, and improve overall concrete quality, is known as an "air-entraining agent".

Chemical composition: The main chemical composition of concrete air-entraining agents comprises various surfactants. These surfactants can reduce surface tension, effectively introducing tiny bubbles.

The principle of bubble generation: concrete air entraining agent. Changing the concrete mix ratio or adding an appropriate air-entraining agent can introduce tiny bubbles. These bubbles form air pockets in the concrete, which can improve the working performance, mechanical properties and durability of the concrete.

Secondly, air-entraining agents can reduce concrete's water secretion shrinkage and cracking. Scope of application: Concrete air-entraining agent is widely used in various types of concrete, including high-performance concrete, mass concrete, impermeable concrete, etc. In addition, air-entraining agents are also used in the preparation of cement-based materials, such as bricks, 

blocks, etc.

Dosage and use method: The dosage of concrete air-entraining agents depends on the specific mix ratio and construction conditions. Generally, the air-entraining agent amount is between 0.01% and 0.05%. The air-entraining agent is mixed proportionally and thoroughly into the concrete when used.

Storage and transportation: Concrete air-entraining agents should be stored in a cool, dry, ventilated place. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures. During transportation, violent vibration and collision should be prevented.

Production Method of Air Entraining Agent in Concrete:

First, choose high-quality raw materials such as surfactants and other auxiliaries. The purity and stability of these raw materials play a crucial role in the quality of the final product.

These materials are then put into a specially designed reactor. This reactor can withstand high temperatures and pressures and ensures that various chemical reactions are carried out in a safe and controlled environment.

After the reaction, a cooling system lowers the reactor's temperature to a safe range, followed by solid-liquid separation. Usually, we use filtration or centrifugation to separate the solid residue from the liquid.

The liquid portion then proceeds to the refining stage, where chemical and physical treatments remove any possible impurities. After the refining is completed, it is dried to obtain the final product of the air entraining agent.

Applications of Air Entraining Agent in Concrete:

Construction project

Air entraining agent is widely used in construction engineering. In high-rise buildings, Bridges, tunnels and other large-scale projects, using air entrainment agents can significantly improve concrete's fluidity, compactness and strength and reduce the risk of water leakage and shrinkage cracking. 

Water conservancy projects

In hydraulic engineering, the durability and impermeability of concrete structures must be high. The air-entraining agent can improve the frost resistance and impermeability of concrete, make the water conservancy project run stably for a long time, and reduce the frequency of maintenance and replacement.

Road engineering

In road engineering, using air-entraining agents can improve the wear and skid resistance of concrete pavement and increase the service life of pavement. 

Prefabricated components

In producing prefabricated components, using air entrainment agents can improve the strength and durability of components, reduce the water absorption rate of components, and improve the frost resistance and durability of components.

Use of concrete air entraining agent  :
